Meat the Herd

October 15, 2015October 15, 2015 by KellieForAg

If you follow me on my Facebook page, KellieForAg, you will have met quite a few of my girls! I thought I would just create a post about all the girls with a beauty shot of each of them. Maybe I’ll include the bulls if they behave themselves! Reminder: These are just my cows. These aren’t my dads. If there is enough interest, I will make a post about dad’s cows.

My 4-h heifer. She is now a 13 year old cow.

Fancy! She loves attention and food.

The cow that started it all. Grandma Hershey is Hershey's mom. She died in 2014, but she will always be a part of my herd. I will never have a cow that looks like her ever again. Love you Grandma!

Caroline is Otis' daughter and my first Miniature Hereford heifer. I couldn't possibly love her anymore! Otis does good work.

Look who snuck in here! Otis!

#6 (Let's name her, what should it be?) She was a young calf when her momma died. She is strong, unique, and friendly. She has proved that being an orphan doesn't make you weak.

Ruby! She is Otis' mom and such a wonderful cow. She is sweet, friendly, and fluffy.

This is Izzy! She's a great momma and cow. Has an outstanding calf every year and is easy to work with.

This is Cindy! She's one of my three original miniature herefords. She has one horn and a great personality.

This is Joey #18. She is one of our best cows. Great personality, great momma, and raises a heck of a calf every year.

This is Jasmine. One of my three original miniature herefords. She LOVES her back scratched and corn. Lots and lots of corn.

Grandma Hershey's baby. Her name will also be Hershey. She is such a sweetie and has beautiful markings!

Reba is Fancy's momma and growing to be one of my favorite cows. She also enjoys her back scratched, but her temperament is so relaxed and calm. Such a gentle animal.

Aqua is one of the three original miniature herefords. (Pictured with Ariel, a soon-to-be 2016 Heifer) Aqua is very good with letting us work with her and helping her with problems. Not many cows are as kind as she is.

Bandit! Do you know why she got that name? Give me your best guess! She is friendly, sassy, and the leader of the group!

Not my cow, but still a favorite. This is Dad's #16. Love her color and her kind personality.

Obviously #21 likes her food! She is a beautiful Hereford that is going to make some amazing colored babies! I can't wait to see them!

This girl is absolutely beautiful and has amazing red eyes (red rings around her eyes). She isn't too sure about me and I'm not too sure about her. I'm sure we'll grow a bond.

Which one is your favorite? You can tell me–I won’t tell them!
