You know how people always say there are two sides to every story? Well I don’t think farmers have a side. Us farmers just can’t seem to get anything right. Let me explain why:

Farmer’s take great pride in their animals. They do everything they can to keep them healthy and happy. Here is the problem. So many people want so many different things from their farmers. Consumers want farmers to keep their animals healthy, but don’t want them to use antibiotics to help them when they’re sick. Consumers want farmers to give them a great product for them to consume, but they don’t want them to use hormones to help with that process. Consumers want farmers to treat animals with the best care, but don’t want us to use new technology to help keep the animals more safe and comfortable.

Farmer’s raise the crops that we all use on a daily basis. One problem. Consumers want a lot of product without using the technology to make it happen. Consumers want a product that is bug free, but don’t want farmers to use the products to do that. Consumers want a healthy product, but don’t believe farmers when they say that everything they raise is healthy.

It’s a battle that I don’t think farmers can or will ever win. They are always doing things to make the consumer happy. So if you’re a consumer, please remember what farmers are actually doing for you. Some of them might not be doing what you want, but some are. They have a lot of different areas to cover. If you’re a farmer, remember that someone will always want the product you’re growing. Everyone likes to eat.
